Guide great, tour decent, company terrible

Short and simple: Noted this tour on Trip Advisor 'last minute' for Siem Reap. My partner had never been to the lake so why not. I normally book directly with a tour company. On the Green Era website this tour was listed at $5 PP less than through Trip Advisor booking. Okay save some money why not? Because the website book thru was terrible - dead link, non functioning buttons, etc. Tried to call the office (and had a local call just in case there was a language barrier). Unable to contact by phone from number listed on website. Not good signs for inputting my CC secure info into 3 world homemade website. So we had already decided - paid the extra $10 for 2x passengers (20% premium) and booked on TA portal. No email confirm as to pickup time - just a vague note from TA - at hotel between 7 and 8. Upon pickup we got lost trying to find the next guest lodging, then backtracked past our hotel area after finally finding the hotel on the way to pickup more guests. Our van had missing seatbelt on the bench seat - driver merely replied "we only use the front in Cambodia". With visions of becoming a human projectile flying thru windscreen in an abrupt stop we proceeded. Guide 'Wat' was great - knowledgable of Cambodia, the tour etc. The tour is a village slice of life of rural lake dwelling Cambodians. On the Lake we missed the entire guide talk because the boatman wouldn't shutoff the straight pipe loud motor. Always fun rocking in the water sucking in petrol fumes. This happened twice as one of the guests got 'lost' on the canoe mangrove paddle, and we had to sit and wait while confusion ensued again inhaling noxious fumes bobbing in the water.. I did not fault the guide - the guest apparently had the canoe lag and detour for photo ops?. Just as my title stated: guide - great, tour - decent, terrible company experience online and safety issue.

Great guide, short tour, fake crocodiles.

My spouse and I signed up for this half-day tour via Viator. It was processed quickly and without any issue. Despite putting in my hotel information, I was emailed and asked for my hotel information again. I gave the same information and a tuk-tuk pickup was arranged. An air-conditioned van arrived. What a great surprise on such a hot day! After about 30-45 minutes we arrived at the entrance to the floating village. We were aware that it would not be flooded because it was not yet rainy season. It was GREAT to see the village not yet under water and watch how the village prepares for the rains. Our guide took us from place to place offering great explanations about this unique place and its people. After about 45 minutes we arrived at the river boat dock, boarded a small boat and headed out into the lake. We visited one restaurant on the water where they had stuffed crocodiles in a pit for us to view. It was a little confusing because even the guide thought they were alive. They clearly were arranged as a tourist attraction. After a cool drink we headed back to our hotel. That was it. I was disapointed that we weren't even offered a ride around parts of the lake to take in its beauty or size. We left our hotel at 8:15 and were back by noon. Not really worth the amount we paid but a great guide and very generous driver who allowed us to see his home.

Visit to the Temples

San was really good in his explanations and made us feel comfortable. I really recommend the excursion if you want to know more about the heritage of the area.

Private Overland transfer from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap

Our driver his name was Citi likes to drive fast. My husband has to asked about 6 times to slow down because we were afraid we gonna get into an accident. He told him we're not in a hurry and would like to get to our destination safe and one piece. He would slow down once my husband asked him to slow down. But if a car passes him, he will overtake it and speed up. A cow suddenly popped out into our lane and he almost hit it, so he has to swerve the car to incoming traffic. It was very scary. He was a nice guy but his driving is out of control. I do hope that he will not be our driver on the way back to Phnom Penh. If he is, we will not be using his service. It was a horrible experience. To Green Era Travel please don't send him again to drive us back to Phnom Penh in case he will be the one assign to take us back.

OK Attraction

We are a family of 4 with one young child and one tween. I would only recommend this tour during wet season when the lake is full throughout the village. I booked this tour because this attraction was highly rated. It was ok. It was dry season so I probably would've liked it more if it was rainy. I did want my children to see how these children lived and we did. We walked through the town and went to see the school. Yes, we walked because it was so dry. We did go on a small boat out to a alligator farm, which we did not want to do. My little one was a bit scared. Because it was dry season, we had a very small motor boat. In order to balance it, my little one had to sit by himself and was very scared because we went fast in the boat. We could've easily skipped that part. Our tour guide San was wonderful. He was knowledgable and really wants to share his country with others. I would highly recommend San.

I've joined this tour after I saw a trip advisor comment. I think every tours are up to guide but for me this tour was average.

Can be better

We went in a tour van, with a driver and a tour guide. Total of 8 tourists. The tour guide was not good in explaining the history or religious importance of phnom kulen. I overheard the other tour groups with a better guide.
