Floating Village and Tonle Sap Lake

The visit was interesting, fun and educational. We were picked up punctually at our hotel. Mr Van Lonh (George), our guide, was very friendly and knowledgeable. Give us a lot of information about the history of Cambodia and the visit objectives. He took many nice photos for us. Glad to be on this tour.

Green Era travel with Bun Caaoub (Guide)

Even though it’s the dry season, in hindsight it was more insightful seeing the village on stilts and seeing the shift from floating village to stilted village over time. Our guide, Bun Caaoub was extremely insightful, generous with his attention to the three groups including our family of four and his command of the English language was impressive. Most notable was his energy and humour and obvious passion and pride in showing off his own country.Well worth the spend and half day investment.

to Kampong Phluk and Tonle Sap Lake

You're well aware that your being "processed" as a tourist, however still well worth doing.Canoe ride worth it - at least while there is a degree of solitude

A wonderful tour with Phearom!

We just returned from our SE Asia trip and wanted to sing Phearom's praises for a wonderful tour of Kompong Phluk Village and Tonle Sap Lake! We really connected to the local people of this special floating village and learned so much about the Khmer culture, traditions, food, and way of life! It was incredible to see the floating village, lake, crocodile farm, mangrove trees, and to even taste some barbecued water snake! Our family of 6 with 3 teenagers and a 9-year old are all really grateful for this experience and we highly recommend Phearom as a guide for this magical tour! We were in SE Asia for 4 weeks and this was one of our favorite experiences! Thank you Phearom! :)

Great experience

We really enjoyed our visit to the floating village and lake. We booked the wrong date by mistake and they allowed us to change to the time that suited us. Boat trip through the village was a great experience. Our guide Borain was very friendly and helpful telling us about the village. Heavy rain meant we couldn’t walk around but still a worthwhile experience for the boat ride alone.

A great floating village tour

Mr. Vichet is a very good tour guide. He took good care of us when we walked in a slope and introduced the floating village with many details. He even helped me and my friends take many good photos.

Half Day Tour To Kompong Phluk

We booked our trip through Tripadvisor and were picked up without any issues direct from our hotel in Siem Reap. We were in a small group of five consisting of our family, with two young boys, and another lady. Our guide was extremely informative and friendly and put us all on our ease on the drive to the the quay at Tonle Sap in an air conditioned van. The route took us out of Siem Reap to more rural areas and gave us a glimpse of how many rural communities live. The boat we met at the quay to take us down to Tonle Sap lake could be considered basic by Western standards, however, it felt a lot more like the real Cambodia than taking a large tourist boat. The trip down river to the lake was absolutely fascinating, taking you the main route through the sunken forest. Although the noise of the engine did mean our guide wasn't able to describe things fully, he pointed out sights of interest to us and answered our many questions. The main destination - the lake itself - is interesting for its impressive scale, but the real highlight is seen on the way - Kompong Phluk. The floating village feels as authentic as it can with the many visitors passing through it, with the tourism confined to the floating restaurant where you can stop for drinks on the way back and have the opportunity to pay a little extra to be paddled around the mangroves and sunken forest on a short trip. This also gives you a brief chance to see some of the village closer to and I would recommend the few dollars extra for the short canoe ride. The whole experience was unforgettable and also an opportunity to talk to our guide and find out more about the lives of the people who live on and around the lake. Some might find the tour itself a little basic for Westerners who might be used to luxury, but I found it to be unforgettable and wouldn't hesitate recommending it to others.
