Pick up  from your hotel and set out this morning in a private tour to the countryside which drive about 45-minutes to the fishermen’s village of Kompong Phluk whose name means 'harbor of the tusks' and Cambodia great lake. Enjoy Tonle Sap Lake, is a lake with no ends in front of you, and birds flying slowly overhead and surrounding with the interesting village.

During the dry season (February to Jul), the village can be reached by mini bus or motorbike, as the – bumpy - road that is normally flooded dries up.

In the rainy season (August to Jan), a short boat ride from the quay, through the wetland area will take you to Kompong Phluk. It is not a floating village but a village on high stilts as well as some floating houses and in spite of fishing is often the privilege of the Vietnamese minority but inhabitants of Kompong Phluk are almost exclusively of Cambodian origin. The villagers frequently move from house to another house during the rainy season, they live in houses built on stilts and move to small huts near the waterfront during the dry season to do fishing.

Arrive at the quay, board a local boat for a 1.5-hour ride on the Tonle Sap Lake as well as village where you will see nature in a way you’ve only seen in picture books, and the tour of Kampong Phluk is worth the extra effort to get there, then we will visit the village, the pagoda on the only butte (the only building which is not on stilts) and see the activities of the villagers who your expert guide will teach you about their culture, the life style, and the ecosystem of this fascinating place.

Optional (August to Jan): you can pay an extra to take a small canoes paddle by villagers; will take you deep into the dense flooded forest. The trees of this forest are perfectly adapted to their unusual existence as they are completely submerged a part of the year.

Return to Siem Reap and drop off at your hotel or requested drop off point drop-off Siem Reap city center.

Fasinating trip. It was so interesting to see this side of Cambodian life. Thoroughly enjoyed the boat trip, canoeing through the mangroves and walking around the village. Had a great guide Sophy, he was very knowledgeable, answered all our questions and it was a delight to spend the day with him. Booked the trip through Green Era...very easy and efficient.

Terrific Tonle Sap! Ask for Nak!!!!!

From start to finish Nak , our tour guide, was both professional and friendly giving us much information throughout our tour. It was a humbling experience seeing how the lovely, hospitable Cambodian people live and work! Seeing the bustling life in one of the stilt villages was something we will remember for a longtime especially the smiley school children , the sights , smells and sounds of the food market and the tranquilty of our canoe journey through the ' mangroves ' !

The most memorable experience of my time in Cambodia.

I rarely write a review, good or bad. I was more than happy with the experience and the time I spent with Nak. I believe God often has us cross paths to teach us how to be a better person and to learn. My time with Nak and visiting Kampong Phluk was truly humbling and insightful. While we search for personal experiences in visiting Angkor Wat and the other temples, it's important to take a pause in life and consider the others around us. It's been a pleasure and an amazing experience to have spent the day with Nuk while learning about the villages and life. I encourage anyone to carve out a moment of their time to experience the same. Also, please consider giving a small bit to the people. They are very hard working and I believe a small bit can mean much more to others. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I enjoy it. I went during the shoulder of the rainy season when there are not many tourists and the water level is high. It's the low season for the area and the experience is more intimate.

A stunning glimpse into lake life

This was a great tour. An amazing way to see life on the lake. Our guide Mr. Sath and driver Mr. Channa were very flexible and took care of all of our needs. All requests were accommodated without question. There was no hassle and all was very smooth. The guide was knowledgable and active in the community. I recommend this tour unequivocally.

A really interesting, great tour of the floating fishing village :)

We had a wonderful tour with Voath! We visited the fishing village, lake and market and it was all definitely worth seeing. Extremely interesting to see how the fisherman around the village live, to see the children at school, the temples and even some wildlife. Voath was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and we'd highly recommend this tour!
