Itinerary

We will start at the port if you arrive by cruise or your hotel in Sihanouk Ville and head off to Tumnuk Rolok Fishing Port.  Watch fishermen do their day to day activities. They head towards the open sea at night and return to the port early in the morning with their catch. See local boats lined up at the port while the fishermen unload their catch and spend the day repairing and preparing their casting nets for the next catch.

You will get the chance to admire the Kbal Chhay Waterfall cascading through natural rock formations. Best viewed during the rainy season between July to October, the site is also a popular picnic area for local visitors, especially during weekends. The waterfalls originates from different mountain ranges and is a source of clean water to Sihanoukville.

We will also visit the Phsar Leu Central Market, where you’ll get a glimpse of local daily lifestyle and culture.  Explore market sections such as fruits, seafoods, clothing, jewelry, Khmer food and various other local goods.

In this tour, you’ll also see two of the most worth-seeing pagodas in Sihanoukville.  Wat Leu (Upper Wat) is located on the hilltop and offers a spectacular sweeping view of the entire town, its surrounding beaches and nearby islands.  Marvel at the golden shrine’s stone architecture, especially the three headed white elephants with Buddha statues on top out of a stone wall.  The temple houses Buddhist sculptures and contains colorful murals inside. It is an active place of worship, where food and fruits are offered during special days.

Wat Krom (Lower Wat) on the other hand, lies on a small hill in Sihanoukhille. Admire its unique Khmer architecture and enjoy panoramic vistas of the ocean.  Appreciate Cambodian culture and religion through its vibrant interior murals, old tombs, the procession of monks, the gold reclining Buddha and the gold Buddha statue at the main temple.

Get into the heart of rural life in Sihanoukville’s little village in the countryside.  Immerse yourself in an authentic countryside life by taking in views of traditional houses, and observing people working at the fields and farms. Learn from your expert local guide about the daily lives of people in this little village.

You will also get to see the Independence Monument, which lies in a small park at the intersection separating Sihanoukville’s city center from Victory Hill.  The neighboring shrine is also used as an venue for important religious festivals.

Lastly, a tour to Sihanoukville will not be complete without walking through its sandy beaches. We will take you to Otres Beach or Sokha Beach to feel its tropical island breeze.

Have coffee break or lunch on your request on own account. The tour ends with a drop off to your hotel or at the port.

Good guide mediocre sites

Our guide Thom was very very good but unfortunately the company didn’t have much for him to work with. There is not much to see on this tour that is extraordinary and as much as he tried, he could not make a silk purse out of a sows ear. We spent 2 hours at lunch but the cause of the restaurant was very worthwhile as it was training at risk youth with skills to survive on their own as many were orphaned. The restaurant was very good! This put us very behind and made our 5.5 hr tour a 7.5hr tour. We spent 1/2 hour each way over a dusty dirt round to get to a waterfall that was hardly running and not worth the trip. We all gave up on our last stop which was the beach as we wanted to get back to the ship. Great guide! Not worthwhile trip. Please give him more to work with

Interessanter Ausflugstag in Sihanoukville

Excellent tour with Sath in Cambodia!

Sath, by far, made the tour an amazing experience. He is so kind and friendly, answering all of our questions and sharing his vast knowledge with us. We learned a lot about Cambodia, the culture, and its people. The morning walk through the village along the waterfront was wonderful. We saw how the fishermen set sail for their weekly fishing trips. Afterward, we made our way to the monastery and received a blessing from the Buddhist monk. The highlight was the Naga Buddha, which is unlike any Buddha statue we’d ever seen before. Brilliant! And not to be outdone was Independence Memorial. Next, we had lunch at a lovely restaurant. The food was delicious. We visited the market after that. And then onward to the waterfall, where locals come to relax with their families. It reminded me a lot of the beaches back home, but with a fresh water stream instead of the ocean. Then, we were heading back to the pier. Sath offered to take us to see more amazing sights, including a walk on the beach, but we were spent by then, so we had to reluctantly decline. But wow! The whole tour from start to finish was wonderful. Thank you to Sath and our driver for a lovely day. Highly recommend.

Visit to Sihanoukville

Thom did a great job showing us the sites. Pick up from port was easy and they dropped us off at the ship at the end. Took us to the market and for lunch. It was an interesting visit.

Good Overall Tour of the City

This was a good tour of Sihanoukville. We met our guide just outside of the cruise port. There were 6 couples on our tour, including me and my wife. We visited the fishing village, two temple sites, the local waterfalls, the beach, a local market and had lunch at an excellent restaurant. I felt this was a good overall survey of the town.

Overall a good day, just longer than planned for!

Pros: Our guide Sath was very friendly, kind, and had a great vocabulary! He was so passionate to make sure everyone on the bus could see as much of Cambodia as possible in one day. The driver was a safe driver and great, and we had plenty of cold water. Cons: The tour list description on the Viator site says 5 hours, and I have an email from the tour operator saying it would be 5.5 hours. We made plans for the afternoon and were unable to do them because we were gone over 9 hours. While our guide had an excellent vocabulary, it was challenging to understand his accent. It was nice to see so many places, however, I often didn't know what we were looking at because it was hard to understand what he was saying.

Experience the real Cambodia

This was an amazing tour. Sath, our tour guide was extremely informative, friendly, and flexible in adapting the tour to our interests. He showed us the "real" Cambodia from impressives temples, to beautiful nature, to the modest lives of Cambodian fishermen.
